INTRO

Good morning today we are carrying on with looking at what love is, if you remember last week we talked about love being patient. This week we are going to look at what love means to people and what it might inspire people to do.

GAME/SKETCH/ILLUSTRATION

Get a volunteer up and ask them to pick 1, 2 or 3 (this is the number of the envelope). Then ask if they would like a sticker, then ask if they would like 2 stickers. Then say to them how about 3 or 4 or 5. Most children will want all five stickers and then say to them that they can either have all 5 stickers or take the prize from the envelope which could be good or bad. Get them to pick the prize!

DEVELOPMENT

In that game blobby had to make a choice they could either choose to keep all 5 stickers and play it safe or they could have a different prize which they didn’t know what it was. It could have been something horrible but in fact was worth the swap. Blobby had to give everything he had already guaranteed getting to get the best prize.

In the Bible there is a story of a woman who came to Jesus with a really expensive bottle of perfume, so expensive it would have cost most people all the money they would earn in 2 months. And she poured the perfume on to Jesus feet to clean them. All the people nearby thought it was an absolute waste but Jesus saw it as a huge sacrifice and said that she would be rewarded above everyone else.

The Bible says that that woman did that because she loved Jesus and she was willing to give everything for him. Christians believe that we should do everything for God because Christians love God. And Christians love God because it says in the Bible that God loved us first and that is why Jesus came to save us.

Andy is going to play us a song now written by a Christian, see if you can work out how the writer meant for us to love God by giving him everything.

PRAYER/ REFLECTION

Maybe you would like to think about how you can show love to people around you at home or at school. Or maybe you would like to pray with me.

Dear Lord thank you that in the Bible it says that you gave everything for us because you loved us. Help us this week to show love to our friends and families. Amen.

FINDING NEMO

GAME

Balloon race – 2 children up and they have to race across the front and then back again with a balloon between their knees (MAY NEED TO CHOOSE BOYS) winner is the first one back. If the balloon falls out they have to start again.

In that race you can’t win if you try and go too fast cos then the balloon will shoot out from between your legs. You have to be patient to win the game.

READ JOHN 3:16

From street bible this verse in the Bible talks about how Christians believe that God loved us so much that He was prepared to do whatever it took to save us no matter what he would have to go through, no matter what he might lose and no matter how long it would take. The Bible says that love is patient, and that patience is an act of love.

PRAYER/ REFLECTION

Maybe you would like to think about the people in your life who love you, or about how you can show love to people by being patient. Or maybe you would like to pray with me.

Dear Lord thank you that you sent your Son to save us because of the love you have for us.  I pray that in these next few weeks you would help us to show patience to our friends and families. Amen
