INTRO
Good morning, today we’re talking about light. Light is a very interesting thing. Did you know, that light travels at about 186000 miles per second. There are some other interesting things about light as well and we’re going to talk about a few of those today.

Why is light useful?
GAME//ILLUSTRATION
Pin the tale on the donkey!! - it’s really easy when we can see what we’re doing, but much harder when we have a blindfold on and can’t see. 3 kids each get to see how close they can get it with and without a blindfold.
DEVELOPMENT
Well that game was quite fun wasn’t it. Was it easier or harder to get the tail in the right place with the blindfold on?
So being able to see what u were doing makes it easier. So light makes it easier.
What kind of lights can you think of?? (will think of ideas like torches, candles, light bulbs, lamps, the sun) Maybe have a few different types of lights to show!!
So when it’s dark and you turn a light on, or light a candle what do you do with it? Do you let the light shine so you can see or do you cover it up? You let the light shine out don’t you. It would be a bit silly to turn a light on and then to cover it up wouldn’t it.
The Bible talks about lots of different kinds of light to. It even says that a man called Jesus is the light of the world. That's a bit different isn’t it.
The light of the world
Christians call Jesus the Light of the World because they believe that the message Jesus brought to us or what he said to us is so important and wonderful that it brings light into our lives, that it makes our lives a little bit brighter. Just like a torch can make it brighter in the dark, the things Jesus said to people and how he said we should live our lives makes things brighter and lighter for everyone.
